TO OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS
Discussion
Here in the UK, a motor industry association publishes monthly numbers, of new cars first registered for use on roads.
The data is split by manufacturer, so therefore we can follow the UK progress of Aston Martin.
Do you have something similar in the USA?
I do not know, but if your vehicle registrations are handled by individual States, then those figures would not tell us much, unless there is an overall Country total.
Our UK figures do not include the very small individual manufacturers, but the AM production has been large enough in recent years, to be included.
Registration is different for each state. This website keeps track of US and Canada, but unfortunately not Aston Martin.

Thank you Andy, I would never have found that myself.
A very interesting source of reference.
A pity that Aston Martin is not included.
I see that Alfa Romeo are in, even though fewer than 500 sales.
I think the Porsche Macan might be the top European SUV, at 17,000 year to date, 40% up on 2015.
The Bentley Bentayga shows 643 sold
The list shows the top three models are all giant pickups, with combined sales of 1,700,000 to the end of November 2016. Certainly very different from the UK market.
If the Aston Martin SUV, does not reach the stated target of 7,000 units, then perhaps an Aston Martin pickup will have to be the next project.
Does 'Charlotte' like pickups?
Yes we love our trucks
! As a whole Land Rover and LR Sport for a luxury SUV is what most Americans like. It can't be beat for luxury, price and looks. I still think a $250,000+ Aston Martin SUV is going to be a tough sell for anyone but the super rich, once you past that $100,000+/- threshold, it's not an easy sell. It might be a good buy used a few years old when it's value drops by 50%. That's just my opinion.

Thank you Daniel. Excellent.
Your link takes us directly to the November and Year To Date figures. I tried to see Full Year 2015 figures, but access seems to be by subscription only.
We were able to freely access the page you linked, but was that only because you provided the exact file name for the pdf?

No but Daisy Duke does! The list shows the top three models are all giant pickups, with combined sales of 1,700,000 to the end of November 2016. Certainly very different from the UK market.

This DBX project now terrifies me - 643 'hot-new-gopping' BentTigers sold in a country of 320 million? And still no bloody Aston (road) sports car with a PDK type dual clutch box...

I do not have the background knowledge to know, but I wonder if the DBX might be quite a high financial risk for the Company.
Of course I do wish them every success.

DBX is not going to be pitched quite at quite as high a price as Bentayga from what i understand
There is no question that as per usual, Aston are a little late to the party, but the market for these types of vehicles is showing no signs of slowing down. At risk of stating the obvious, the key is going to be in the execution.
