Thinking of cancelling this on my order. Would appreciate views of owners:

1. Is the SE worth the extra cash?
2. Does anyone have the MSO exhaust system? If so how much is it and is it any good?
3. Of the alternatives which do owners prefer? Seems to be Novitec or Larini.
4. Does a non-Mclaren SE invalidate your warranty?

Cheers.

Re warranty. I spoke to Mclaren about this and they said it would only void any warranty claims to do with the exhaust.

Have driven 570s with and without SE and for me, it's a great option to choose. You have the choice of whether its noisy or not and on a motorway a Larini or Novitec will probably be wearing.

Plus I don't know why, but I'd feel a little nervous about aftermarket stuff on a McLaren, far more so than I would on a Ferrari or Lambo.

Have heard an MSO equipped one too and for me it was a bit too loud.

OP, maybe you're already aware but just to point out that the SE is not switchable, it's on all the time. The ISG (Intake Sound Generator) allows you to adjust the amount of sound coming into the cabin. I haven't fully explored how well it controls the sound but the car does have a bit of a drone at 70 but having heard the car without the SE I'd definitely go with the SE.

993AL - I didn't know that either. Do you know if it is the same on the 650 ?

On the 650S the sound level for each power train mode can be adjusted via the menu control stalk. The default ISG levels for Normal, Sport and Track powertrain modes are shown as vertical bars denoting Low Medium and High ISG respectively. To be honest I haven’t bothered to try to adjust it ( I just let the back window down instead) but as it’s a nice day I might just pop and see if it makes any difference and whether it can be switched off entirely.

Its the same on the 12c so should be same on the 650, you can set the DSG sound thing to off for std mode, half for sport, and full for race, or any combination you like.
