Bench top blast cabinet
Discussion
Evening all
I thought I'd try and garner the general consensus on the smaller blast cabinets
Although the cabinets themselves are fairly inexpensive, it seems they still require a decent sized compressor to perform properly. So my main enquiry is does the combined purchase of compressor / cabinet / gun and media still cost in compared with paying someone else to do it. The decision has to take into account that large items like the chassis will still have to be outsourced. Even if it broke even, I'd still consider it as the satisfaction of doing it myself is a factor.
To clarify, I'm not a serial car restorer, I have a TVR Taimar project and have no current plans to take another project beyond this.

while I can sympathize with your "do it myself" philosophy for the amount of parts you have I would suggest using a "p[professional", if you have someone reasonably local and reasonably priced.Few years ago now I managed to persuade my boss we "needed" one at work, must have caught him on a good day because he actually let me buy one!
We had a nice big compressor so air supply wasn't an issue, when it worked it was good but the thing kept clogging up and visibility was about zero.
What you can get in a "bench top" will be very limited, you need room to work in there?
If you do out source it always take as much as you can each time, my experience was a box full cost little more than one or two bits.
