Wing mirror motors - no lateral movement
Discussion
Looking for a bit of help please chaps.
I have up and down vertical movement on the wing mirror motors but no side to side. Have had the motors off and chased through the wiring and get +/- 12 volts in all directions at the connector to the back of the motor.
The problem is common to both sides.
Bought 2 new motors in the belief the side to side motor had packed up but the situation repeats itself with the new motors.
I've also put in a new relay.
At a bit of a loss to be honest so all ideas welcome.

Completely off topic...but I've no idea if mine work. I've never had the need to move them in 12 years. (so I'm guessing that they won't after all this time)
...and wing mirrors
(you're obviously not old enough to have had a car with wing mirrors)
Sorry to be of no help whatsoever, but good luck!

Still Bu*****g around with mine..the passenger side only though.
What about the joystick, does the relay click when pushing on side to side on yours?
I get the relay click on the vertical movement but not on the lateral but it's a new relay. Also the fact I'm getting a positive 12v one side and -ve12v on the other means there is power at the connection. Just can't for the life of me see any reason why they won't bl00dy work. What about the joystick, does the relay click when pushing on side to side on yours?

Logically the issue is the one thing that is common to both mirrors......i.e. The switch.
Agreed QBee but the switch is working fine as the power is alternating between mirrors when chasing through the circuits.Everything appears to be working as it should but I just can't seem to get any side to side movement at the motors.
I guess the only thing remaining is to cross the power feed from the vertical connection to the lateral connection and see if that gives me any movement.

The relay click is to switch from S2S to U&D. or vice-versa, I cannot remember now, but you should only hear it click in one plane.Oldred_V8S said:

That's my understanding as well and seems to be the case from the bible wiring diagram. Out to the garage later to cross feed the power.....Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
