Has anyone any experience of this? Looking for a used G Class and there are precious few in the UK. So planning on a personal import from the Fatherland, but have a few questions:

Are main dealer prices negotiable?

Is VAT payable on the sale price? My understanding was that as long as its been paid when new then I wont need to pay it on import to the UK? However German advertised prices seem to include VAT on used cars?

Mercedes Benz main dealer used cars include a 24 month Europe wide warranty. Has any one any experience of how good/otherwise this is?

Prices are normally negotiable.

VAT equivalent is payable in Germany that will allow the car to be registered in Germany or the Uk.

A used car will already have the VAT paid, you just need proof of this, you can pay without tax here for business purposes (like the UK).

I have a MB from Germany and its warrantied for any country on the Green Card supplied (mine is leased), it's as simple as calling the number and you will be picked up, taken to the local Mb garage and supplied a replacement car ... In theory, I have yet to test it out.

Are you looking at new or used?

I have an ex UK RHD Spitfire in De that will be coming back to the UK, you need the two prices of paperwork (like V5 + mini V5) to export, if you can pay the dealer to do it, save yourself the hassle of you do not speak German, loads of paperwork / stamps / forms / signing / more forms smile
