Until recently I was thinking of getting into a big GT ownership once again and had my eye on a Maserati GTS only with some minor second thoughts..

Then watched the ecoty 2016 and noted the positive feedback the Giulia QV received. So now I'm properly confused. Giulia QV seems to be so much more high tech and faster and light weight than the GTS. I mean the GTS looks like a dinosaur next to it, with the big engine and heavy load, something from the past really. Surely if i were thinking with my head i should be choosing the Giulia QV, right?

Then again there are some qualities in the GTS that (like the dinosaurs) are increasingly hard to find. Namely a proper N/A V8, amazing craftsmanship with top quality leather interior and gorgeous pinninfarina looks (to my eyes better than the QV).

What are your thoughts? Others have similar dilemmas?

Two very different cars.. I don't own either but had a late 2015 GTS for 10 days. Sure it's long in the tooth now but then noise, looks and positive interest it got made me start looking at the classifieds.

Personally, I prefer the looks of the GTS. If you want a GT kind of drive, not bothered about older tech, it would get my vote.

Can't comment on the Alfa but I had a GTS for a few days last year (was considering buying one). Sounds amazing. Quick enough, comfortable, perfectly daily. Depends what you want it for I guess.

The GTS is a bit slow, while the QV is a bit anonymous. Neither is perfect. Perhaps a Panamera Turbo or Vantage S might give a happy medium.

Its really a weekend toy for me. Plus the annual trip to the continent. So maybe 3k miles a year. Fundamentally true they are very different cars but serve similar purpose and target same audience, no?

Have you seen a QV in the flesh? It's far from anonymous! I've just put my money where my mouth is and ordered a QV, trading in my 4C. I am keeping the 430.

The QV for me is a perfect blend and a proper 4 door Ferrari. If you need usable back seats (I do for the family) and for road trips I would say it's perfect - far far more so than a Panamera. If don't need back seats then different story. The QV looks amazing, feels special and goes like stink. Has a fantastic feeling on A and B roads, and very relaxed on motorway. And it's different.
