Shocks & Tyres.
Discussion
My Cerb is currently undergoing full chassis refurbishment and I intend fitting new shock absorbers and also retrofitting 17" RL7 wheels back onto the car.
My question is what shock absorbers are people fitting nowadays ? ....I have Gaz fitted currently , the car will be used for fast road use & the occasional trackday ....don`t want to be spending Nitron or Ohlin`s money !
Also what 17" tyres are people using ?.....car currently has 18" aftermarket wheels on it currently fitted with Nankangs!!!!...I can`t wear them out !...I have used Bridgestone and Toyo`s in the past, I intend fitting quality tyres on the RL7`s.

The Gas are fine for your wanted use... I would suggest keep them and perhaps invest in some higher quality springs as that was a weak point in the Gaz Golds. Oh and then a good set up of the shocks... Powers Fast Track/Road set is nice.
Tyres I have the Federal 595RSRs all year round and they seem great even though I am yet to take them to track or have even really got them up to temp on the road.
Gruffalo is my go to man anyway so what he says is always top advice

Gaz are s
te tbh.. Especially for road use. The dampers are rubbish. I'd go with a set of Protech single adjustables from Joolz.
As for tyres.. I'd consider dropping to a 225/45 on the front for the RL7's. Opens up a whole world of newer tyres such as the the PS4's..

Another here for ProTechs and Jools, an extremely knowledgable, kind and conscientious chap. You won't find better.
I bought the single adjustables at the time. It took me a couple of weeks to find my preferred setting (8 out of 13 in from fully soft) and have had no need to adjust them since

(Just be aware of the service intervals for the Shocks that you decide upon)

I'm struggling to find a matched set of tyres for 17" RL7's in the original 235/40 and 255/40 sizes.
All I have found available so far are Yokohama AD08's. Anyone have any further suggestions that are available?
Regarding the Federal RSRs, used in the same sizes as above I have found them great both on and off track though quite noisy. Also on a fast track (Spa) they got rather warm though on Croft they were perfectly fine.
Great value for money.

And the Yokohama AD08Rs seem to be on back order - managed to get rears immediately, but the fronts are due in March... All I have found available so far are Yokohama AD08's. Anyone have any further suggestions that are available?

What are the service intervals on the Protechs Joolz recommends? I bought the single adjustables at the time. It took me a couple of weeks to find my preferred setting (8 out of 13 in from fully soft) and have had no need to adjust them since

Not sure what the recommended service interval is, but I can vouch for the customer service from Protech. I found one rear leaking a couple of months after the two year warranty expired, sent the pair to them for servicing, they were returned within a week - totally FOC!Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
