Please can anyone help, noticed waterpump leaking today.Does anyone know how big a job this is and how long should it take?I know cambelt needs to come off, obviously will replace with new.Has anyone out there used Euro parts/spares as they seem to be the cheapest for replacement pump.Or can you recommend anyone in Devon area.Cheers Mike

It's a bit of a job I think. Seem to remember it cost about 500 quid to have done at a specialist on my old 944S.

Have you tried Bert at Berlyn Services?

I think you can get a repair kit for the pump i.e. the seals, try Berlyn for advice first.

Waterpump is usually replaced at same time as the belts, the pump cost about £140, its probably say a 3 hour job for a decent independant, i would suggest you get the belts replaced at the same time, for all the extra cost.

The water pump sits behind the cam belt and balancer belt. To get to it, you have to drain the coolant, then remove the front covers of the engine, the TDC the engine and remove both belts, then the rollers, then the rear plastic shroud. Finally you can get to the water pump. So, if you do it yourself you might as well replace the belts and tensioners as well as the pump. Same applies if you get someone else to do it. Then you wont have to touch thesre for another 40,000 miles
