Discovey 1 Radio: Code 1222 Help!

I have a 1998 Disco with the original radio-cassette player.
Last week the starter motor was replaced so the battery disconnected. The radio simply shows '1222' when I switch it on. It will not work or respond.
Previously when the battery was out the radio flashed 'Code' and I keyed my code in and all works fine..
Any ideas please?
