Axle stands and CSR

Santa already told me he will bring me a jack and some axle stands because I've been a good boy this year.
I know where to position the jack to lift the car, but I'm not sure where to put the axle stands on the chassis.
What's the safest place to put them?
And how long can you keep the car off its wheels for winter storage?

Front: single axle stand under the cruciform
Rear: I use the rear chassis tube where the diagonal tubes join it.

How long can you leave it there? It depends how long you can resist taking it out!
