I'm blaming the immobiliser for the lack of reliable starting hot or cold.
Sometimes it won't turn once or even click the starter but starts if it turns more than once.
It's got 35mm cables from the (new)battery direct to the starter and block, and spins the starter freely with a jumper to the solenoid from a live feed.
This made me think the current from the solenoid wire was lacking so I put a relay in the circuit, hardly better if at all.
If I jump the relay at the signal wire 86 the starter turns freely again.
This tells me the signal's probably degraded by the immobiliser.
Would someone on here pm me where to find the offending item so I can bypass it.
Many thanks.
Preserp 500 wheelbarrow version if that matters.

Thanks, had a read through and confirms what I've found so far.
What I can't ask on an open forum is where the damned thing is located, pm anyone?
the rev counter's just fallen off the back of the dash whilst in search etc so I'll no doubt find it along the way.
Just didn't want another project on the go right now
