I'm sorry, I can't be miserable today!
Discussion
I know everybody's stressed this time of year, I've had a manic couple of months myself what with one thing and another but today has been great.
Got up early this morning and looked out of the window at a dry and windy day, left the OH in bed and jumped in the car. Headed out to the completely empty lanes with the roof down wearing a silly bobble hat. Tearing through the countryside on the edge (Whoops! Better warm up the tyres, the back end just tried to come around and shake hands with me), slowing down to wave at some early morning dog walkers, everybody is in a cheerful mood.
Headed down to the seafront at Southend and saw a cafe putting out the tables. Pulled up and asked if they were open, he said only for bookings but he could squeeze me in before the first sitting, tremendous!
Pulled up on the front and went over to watch the sea crashing in.

Headed down to Shoeburyness and stopped by the boat ramps. The wind was coming off the Estuary so hard I could stand on the sea wall and lean all the way over without falling. Essex isn't exactly known for its scenery but the sky was beautiful as the sun came up.

A woman came past with her Staffie, we agreed it was a perfect morning then her dog pissed up the door of my car!
Drove back through the town with people driving to relatives and friends wearing Christmas hats and with coloured lights on their cars, everybody smiling.
Headed off to the Hanningfield reservoir to thrash around the quiet roads. Pulled up on the long straight and watched the gulls fighting against the wind.

Then you could have knocked me down with a feather as I heard a familiar roar and looked up to see a 12C flying down the road. I never see other McLarens! Young guy with his other half came past. I didn't get a pic of him but this was the road.

He was enjoying himself and the car sounded superb!
Then another quick hoon around the lanes and back home.
Brilliant morning. I know things can get on top of us from time to time but you have to make the most of the good days!

The 12C driver posted about seeing you on the McLaren Owners Facebook Group. He was enjoying himself and the car sounded superb!
Omg! That was me in the black 12c that passed you today....
Now i actually believe that an even bigger coincidence occured today...
By any chance is your name brad? Do you remember a few years ago, you were parked in Wickford co-op and i spotted your car which at the time i could only dream of as my business was only just starting!
I was with my mum and dad at the time and they didn't know what a mclaren looked like, i showed them around your car and explained that its similar to the 12c that i one day would hope to own....
You came out of the co-op and we awkwardly watched you as you started the car up and went on your way.. You were extremely polite and even took the time to show me how the lifting gear works.... I'm sure it must have been you as i have only seen one orange spider roaming around the Wickford area.
A few years down the line and a lot of hard work later, we whizz past each other in our mclarens on a beautiful Christmas morning!!!!

Merry Christmas.
Not exactly Southend and no one is stressed in the Caribbean

Missing the cars though, especially the 650S Spider and can't wait to be driving again in the new year. Not looking forward so much to the 2nd year service bill though

Enjoyable account of a 'normal' drive thank you. This is what an interesting car is all about.
Didn't realise the Mc was available in Lava Orange...looks great! And nice LO stitching too!
Happy Christmas!

Got a bit of catching up to do here!Didn't realise the Mc was available in Lava Orange...looks great! And nice LO stitching too!

The Orange is actually Torroca Orange. It's a bit shinier than the normal McLaren Orange but not quite as mad as the Volcano Orange.
I like the Orange stitching but it takes a bit of getting used to cos it reflects in the windscreen.
Happy Christmas to you too!

Merry Christmas brd, its been a lovely day here too and I managed to squeeze a quick blast into my day as well.
Great pictures, your car is gorgeous! I still have your old 430 and she's better than ever, never a minutes bother.
How you doing Mr C! Good to hear you're still enjoying the experience. I imagine the car is worth a bit more than you bought it for now, I just don't have the luck, everything I buy plummets like a lead wrapped stone!Great pictures, your car is gorgeous! I do indeed remember that day in the car park! You were a very polite and enthusiastic fella, small world eh! Very glad to hear you are being successful.
Great to see you out enjoying such a lovely car, it sounded superb when you "pressed on" a bit!
I tell you what though, you have done better than you think, I only got the McLaren at the beginning of summer last year so it must have been about a year and a half ago that we chatted. If it was before that I had a Lambo which also had the lifting gear but I did think I was in the Mac when we spoke.
I'll look out for you out and about in the future!
