Multi room audio

I've got a load of music that i listen too using an ipod which is all held in an itunes library, i'd now like to be able to listen to it in various rooms (bedroom, lounge, kitchen etc) without having to keep moving the ipod.

So I am guessing that I need some sort of server/ streaming system? I'd like to be able to have a smaller speaker type thing in the bedroom and kitchen but a more "hifi" sort of thing in the lounge.

Just looking for recommendations really, i'm not hooked on everything being in Itunes so I could export to mp3 or whatever the new thing is...

Cheapest way would be using Chromecast Audio's, awesome little things and you can output to more than one at once, to fill the house or just choose whichever one you want.

You'll need to use a different app to play the music, Plex works well and can tie it in with a central storage system like a NAS.

If you want to stick within the Apple ecosystem then you can get Airport Expresses or buy speakers with AirPlay built in, I can't remember how to use them as a multi speaker system though.

Basically just use your phone to control the music, either store the music on the phone or in some form of NAS.

Then stream them to say a SONOS PLAY device, or Chromecast Audio connected to a "hifi" system of your choice (PC Speakers, Active speakers or line in on Hifi)
