Ive got a small problem with the temp gage on my chimaera, it gives a constant correct reading but constantly flicks wildly, is it a problem with the gage itself or the or temp sensor any help would be appreciated also whats the cost of a temp gage if thats the problem.....

.... shouldn't take you long to find one, its a TVR!

Mine has a similar fault, in fact the temp guage goes off completely for periods then springs back to life. I will trace the problem one day when life backs off from throwing other sh1t in my face.

If you do find the problem please post what it was ... I'll do the same, maybe one of us can save the other some work!

Now where did I put than Chimaera? .... Neil, where's me car mate?

my sender went on my 99 griff, just behind the distributor, i used the unused one on top of the block, you will need a resistor to calibrate. Thats if you have "the spare" and indeed is the fault, maybe "wiggle" the sender wire to see if its a bad connection.

It could be an air lock in the radiator causeing the sensor to miss read for a second. It causes the flicking that Cerberas some time have, so it might be the same thing

Problem solved. the wire from the back of the gage travels down to the temp sensor on the engine block just before the spade connector on the sensor is an inline resistor i fiddled with this cleaned the spade connector up,problem solved. Its been three days now and problem hasnt re-appeared

"flicking temp gage" (sic)? That's something I've resorted to doing a la WWII pilot to make sure it's giving me a true reading. Rarely makes any difference, though. The needle does seem to stick a bit and then suddenly jump up about 4 deg or so.
