My mistake, but disappointing if not.

If these are an indication of the Gen 3 http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2018-po... then it's a very subtle evolution, although looks bigger.

That second link clearly says the car is dressed in current generation Cayenne bodywork as it is a chassis only mule...

I'm surprised there aren't more advanced photos of the Gen 3 Cayenne on the www. Surely it must be pretty close to being 'signed off' if production commences in early 2017?

The word is 'back end' of 2017, so we can expect the usual 'scoops' at the Ring around May/June time, invited pre-production (when production is really already underway) passenger rides July/August, and the big reveal at Frankfurt in September or Tokyo in October.

Current model was launched at Geneva 2010, with production commencing in May 2010 (Cayenne year start).

So, I was expecting Geneva 2017, which is only 10 weeks away. If so, 'officially leaked' pics should be getting fairly imminent.

You could be right. There'll have been just enough time for the dust to settle after the new Panarmera launch.

The new Cayenne is something they 'have' to get right. Porsche's biggest seller needs to remain it's biggest seller.

I'd be amazed if Porsche launched both the Cayenne and GT3 at Geneva...the latter seems nailed on. You don't want two key products competing for headlines surely ?

You are correct, I got a glimpse at an internal Porsche GB document with release dates, GT3 in March, Cayenne in October, GT2 RS end of next year.

Have my name down for a V8, (so Turbo S I expect.) Dealer ( Canada) told me probably early 2018. I need to replace my current 2008 which has over 200,000Km on it and I use it for towing,offroading, deep snow and very long distance treks, ( 6000 miles return). I am very interested any info anyone has, but I do understand that the vehicle will be bigger with a twin-turbo V8 at the top end.

Taking delivery of a Cayenne early next year....almost certain it'll be replaced by the Panamera GT and not a Cayenne in a couple of years. I've got a Panamera 4S Diesel as a loan car from my OPC today....hugely impressed with it. With the extra boot space the GT will have it'll tick every box for me....at a price but hugely capable car.

Thoughts from the OPC are that deliveries wont start until 2018. They reckon there's about a nine month gap between one model finishing and the replacement coming on line (this was the case with the recent Panamera apparently ?)...they have build slots for current Cayenne until Q2 2017 and haven't yet been told when production ceases.

What wheels and tyre combination do you use in the Winter? My current 21"x10 were useless in the couple of inches we got last week. Ideally, I'd like to switch out the wheels for the 3-4 months we expect snow but still use them when there is no snow on the ground. I've looked at 18" wheels (but keep being drawn to the 22" that are original Porsche.) is 18" a good size? I'm in Northern NJ so can see up to 3 feet of snow over night.
