Trolley Jacks

Im looking at getting a new trolley jack as old one too big to get under my 996.

What ones do you use and or recommend.

Mine is a Torin Big Red low profile. Can appear with other badges.

The 1.25 tonne lightweight jack from Machine Mart is good value at about £110. It has very low entry. Machine Mart regularly have a "VAT free" promotion and the jack is included in those events.

I bought 2 and use 1 each side. Its a better/safer way of lifting the car without trying to get a jack in the middle of a car that is only 6 inches off the ground.

Mine is not a particularly low entry jack, and I also use aluminium "pucks" (thanks Ebay) under the jacking locations, so that's another inch at least. And mine is a Turbo which is probably a smidgen lower than a regular 996 (if that's what you have).

So don't exclude all other jack types if you find a good deal on something that will work.

I did quite a bit of research before buying and can vouch for the Weber jack above. It's also the uk version of the jack recommended by pelican parts here http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-9...

Its one of the only jacks long and low enough to jack the rear of my 996TT from the crossmember, to get it onto axle stands easily.

Webers are actually re-branded Compac lifts.

Buy Compac to get the same (excellent) qualities for less money.

That Weber is actually an AC Hydraulic lift (http://www.ac-hydraulic.dk/us/products/hydraulic-jacks/dk13hlq/) - the Compac lift looks likes a close copy and is also from Denmark.
