Can i just check... the extended warranty lapses when sold to a trader?

ie. if i am looking to buy a car from a trader, and it advertises extended warranty, then it's actually irrelevant? For example: http://www.autoelitesouthwest.co.uk/used-cars/pors...

It would be as if i bought a non-warranty car, and then could apply to Porsche for a warranty after 90 days, after paying for a 111-point check, doing all its advisories, having a full service, etc?

(i know if it's SOR then it's different, but then you lose the benefits of buying from the trade, so swings and roundabouts I guess?)

I bought a CaymanS a few years ago from a well known trader which still have six months warranty left to run - no issues at all when it was transferred to me, I cant recall if the transfer form asked for the name of the previous owner or not (so make sure to get the details) and obviously dont start telling Porsche that you didnt buy it privately, the question wasnt asked though as far as I recall.

So I assume then it would be as if I bought from a private individual, and have no "protection" as if bought from the trade? (apart from paying a premium!!).

Thanks, useful. I do wonder if they would look into it, should you have a large warranty claim (and if the transfer papers have wording such as confirming you didn't buy from a trader, so you would have to lie to confirm).

Previous owner details would be on the V5 anyway.

I wonder... would they be able to find out from DVLA if it went via a dealer/trader or not?
