Accountancy Contracting Work - London and the shires

Good morning,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experiance of contracting as a qualified accountant in London or the shires? If so what's the market like at present, what day rates people are achieving. Any other advise greatly appreciated.

2yrs PQ but 18yrs in the industry, half of that in blue chips with £1bil+ T/O

Hi

For somebody with 2 years PQE we would pay £35-£40k on payroll and circa £225-£250 per day if they were Agency. This is Manchester so it will be cheaper than London.

Well i earn double the payroll figure at present... guess contracting isn't the way ahead at the moment then, i was expecting £350-£400 per day at my level.

OK, I think if you're contracting you need to be more specialist so either FP&A or FC. Not very often a jack of all trades is needed as the requirement will be quite prescribed. As for rate, you're looking at £350 to £400 (depending what you've done in those 18 years) in West London/Berks/Surrey...less in Bucks/Herts/Beds. FP&A seems to pay more than FC.

Yeah FP&A is the in job at the moment, so figures aren't so far off what I was expecting. Interesting stuff :-)

I've just upped my estimate seeing as you're fairly old. I'm maybe a couple of years older than you but have 17 years pqe and I was looking at £400 to £450 when considering it earlier in the year. If you're on £80k I don't think the numbers would work, especially if you get bonus and car on top.
