Things You Do That People Don't Anymore

Whilst driving...
The other day I went to pick my brother up, knew the general gist of the way (A38 south, A527 towards bla bla or whatever, as I'd looked on Google maps), but found myself stumped at a roundabout, so did a couple of laps of it until I'd worked out which exit I needed.
I try and use sat nav as little as possible.
Anyone else do things like that, stopping and asking for directions etc?

Change my own wheel when I get a puncture (instead of waiting 2 hours for recovery to come and do a 5 minute job!
...and don't use satnav much, having driven for 40 years I know where most places are and a quick look at the map beforehand gives enough info.
I'm sure that although my kids can get to places OK, they have no idea where anywhere is in relation to anywhere else. If the satellite goes down they'll have no idea how to get home!

Wash my own cars!!
Seriously, like 20 years ago, on a Sunday am, there was at least 3/4 of the street I lived in washing their cars. I cannot remember the last time I saw anyone else wash their own cars on their own drive, anywhere.
I am sure some do, but what, 5% of the number of people who did so 20 years back?

Last time I asked for directions, I was driving "through" London from Windsor to New Cross, (pre sat nav days), I was on a dual carriageway and turned off to ask someone if it was the right road. The other day I went to pick my brother up, knew the general gist of the way (A38 south, A527 towards bla bla or whatever, as I'd looked on Google maps), but found myself stumped at a roundabout, so did a couple of laps of it until I'd worked out which exit I needed.

He said "Yes mate just stay on the motorway".........being a little confused I said "What motorway"
He pointed to the dual carriageway and said "That one", I said "Thats a dual carriageway", he said "Well we call it the motorway".
And then you get the helpful chappie who insists telling you the way about three times...........

But all of us have different abilities for memorising data or routes etc, and so one is not necessarily "better" than the other, just different.
Never ceases to amaze me the number of idle f
kwits who appear perfectly happy to visit a third rate car wash joint, let some scrote run a worn out grit laden sponge over their P and J then happily part with £20 whatever for the privilege of numerous deep scratches and a badly washed car.
Incredible.

Know how to open the bonnet.
Check tyre pressures, top up windscreen washers, how to check oil (although my daily checks it electronically).
Disable the auto lights and wipers as I don't trust them to operate when they should (e.g. Lights don't come on when foggy). I'm convinced that this is why I see so many cars without lights on at times of poor visibility - the owners are too reliant on the car deciding when lights are needed or not).
