Morning,

Bought two from the main dealer, but a min order of 4 - criminals.......

I removed the cover on the front of the engine and popped out the old seals and pushed in the new ones. A touch of oil and then refitted he covers - deformed the inner lip of the seal. Bugger tried again with same result, there is a reason why they come in packs of 4 ....

I have now fitted the covers without the seals. Maserati list a fancy tool that looks as if you just hammer the seal in using the tool, which they wont sell you.

Is there a clever way of fitting them or is it just gentle tapping with a blunt punch and a large socket ?

Thanks

Del

Most seals are fairly simple to fit....without seeing what you're doing wrong, it's hard to state what you need to do to get it right.

And there are many blunt objects yo could use to fit them fro proper tools...to..a blunt object and hammer lol

You can make a tool using the thin transparent plastic sheet found in food packaging.

Cut to size, wrap it around the camshaft and slide the oiled seal into place.

Finally push/tap the seal home with a large socket or similar.
