So, very slow w puncture in my right rear.

Good news, right in the centre of the tread, considered repairable.

Bad news. TPMS sensor "found damaged" when tyre removed. Plastic casing broken and one SMT chip found in tyre (working fine before).

Good news. Replacement sensor only £50 something quid, in stock at dealers Land Rover sister branch, "nip down after its fitted and they will program it up". Decided to swallow cost as £50 not really worth starting a fight over.

Bad news, probably a 30 minute walk to and from the parts dealer.

Good news, tyre place lend me a car.

Bad news, "Asron dealer quoted you for a Jaguar part", Aston part is ££150+

Good news "We'll have to let you have it for the price you were quoted.

(Sensor fitted by tyre place, one orange LED flashing on the control module, drive back to Landrover Sister Dealership).

Bad news. Yes sir, half an hour to code, £90 please.

More bad news. "Don't suppose you happen to have taken a note of the number of the sensor sir, you see, we need the number to code it..."

Currently sat waiting for the tyre to be taken off, again, so they can find the number of the sensor.

Sigh.

I feel rather deflated after reading your saga.
Well done for being so sanguine about the experience.

Home now with no further SNAFU.

To be honest, I had kind of resigned myself to having to put on a new pair of rears a few months ahead of when they are really due, so finding the puncture repairable (yes, I know repairing very high performance tyres etc etc) was a bonus.

I guess the point of the post is, if you have a TPMS sensor fitted by somewhere who can't code it to the car, make a note of the ID no. on the sensor, and a dealer will need £90 to code it.

Not the service that we hope for, but it could have been worse.

You probably read the report of a Vantage that only went in for new tyres, but came out a write-off.

I guess the working TPMS sensor alerted you to a drop in pressure - then was immediately found to be u/s and rattling in the tyre when the tyre was removed rolleyes You must give me the name of your chill pill supplier wink
