Struggling to find out how much oil I need to replace the engine oil with oil filter?

The manual says 10.3 litres but there is a shorter dips stick now, so just need to confirm how much I need.

Thanks

Since you never get all the old oil out with a filter change, I usually just put in one less litre than specified, then run the motor a bit, then recheck in a an hour or so and fill according to the dipstick. Generally I find that little or nothing needs to be added because of the residual oil left in the motor.

Since the 10.3 was based on the longer dipstick (?), then presuming that's the case I'd go with 10 litres to start, since that would be a litre less than now required the shorter dip.

This is all to prevent an overfill condition.

To change the oil and filter on my DB9 I purchase a new filter and 11 litres of oil. I take the car out to get the oil up to full working temperature, about a 15 minute minimum should suffice, I then remove the sump plug and allow the oil to drain whilst changing the filter.

Where I can, I let the engine drain for at least 2 hours to get as much of the old oil out as possible. Then replacing the sump drain washer (because I use a reuseable magnetic sump bolt), or a new sump bolt with the built-in seal, I refill the engine with 10 litres and run for a minute or two to refill the new filter and get the oil in all the areas of the engine.

Letting the oil settle for a minute or two, I then top the engine up to the maximum on the dipstick and keep any left in the boot for top-ups.
