Thrush in your penis - how long to clear

So yeah i noticed that the tip of my penis was red and was stingy so i went to the doctors and was told that i have a fungal infection. They have given me clotrimazole cream which i need to apply 3 times a day. After one week i thought i was cured so stopped using it however 2 weeks later the infection is still present. Tonight i had some thrush in my penis and i washed it away. It smells like cheese and is horrible. I will start applying the cream again and hopefully get rid of the infection.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how long did it take to clear ?

I have not had sexual intercourse in a long time as im single so it hasnt been caused by that. I did however start having bubble baths recently and ever since then the problem has started. I have now stopped. Apparently this could of been the cause of the infection. It annoys me that something so simple could of caused this.
If it has not cleared up in the next fortnight ill go back and ask about the tablets. Thanks for your advice

Poor circulation/low testosterone also potentially implicated, although it's perfectly possible also to just have crappy luck and get it while healthy, in good shape etc too. A decent GP would get suspicious and investigate other causes if a couple of goes at standard treatment fail tho, so you don't need to worry unless/before s/he does.
If you're a little bit allergic/having skin irritated by something, that won't help.
PS any prescribed antifungal or antibiotic really must be taken for the recommended length of time, if you stop early you increase the risk of your personal bug population becoming resistant to those drugs. Not sure if this might have happened to the OP, just putting it out there as I'm sure it may be relevant for others at some point.
Go to Boots and buy some Canasten cream and tablet. You'll struggle to clear it without the tablet too In my experience and its available over the counter probably cheaper than a prescription.

If you have a partner make sure they take a tablet and cream just to be sure.
Its not an STI, and you can get it without having sex, although that is how it usually occurs.
