Headache for 2-3 days then nothing.

Pretty scary realising that caffeine must be quite a strong drug to induce this reaction!

Just a few days.

But if you're struggling, and it's a personal thing, try going back to caffeine and tapering off rather than going cold turkey.

I got headaches and generally felt like st when I went cold turkey. Generally lethargic, but also a bit clumsy. I also kicked sugar and sweetener at the same time, which probably didn't help.

Stopped drinking coffee last year due to anxiety.

Made a huge difference and don't miss it at all.

Took me around a week to feel better.

Tried replacing coffee with green tea?

Get the focus without the being wired, plus kind of healthy.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, dehydration will make the headache worse.

I usually have a skull splitting headache for 2-3 days, intensity of the headache seems yo be proportional to how heavy my caffeine (ab)use was leading up to it. After that there's a heavy lethargy which starts to ease after 5-7 days.

hehe Not sure fun is the word I'd use!

I have always struggled with insomnia, add in a high workload and caffeine is pretty much my favorite crutch, the catch is that I periodically develop too high a tolerance for it (think downing two cans of Red Bull on the trot and barely even noticing) so occasionally I take a week cold turkey and it sort of resets me.

Me too.

Have often thought about reducing my intake but I don't know what I'd replace it with.

instead of coffee... try green tea in powdered form.

It has the caffeine and also camomile tea like properties, so whilst staying focused you dont get the massive wired feeling or if drinking too much, the shakes.

I used to have a fair few brews during the day.

I got to the point I was drinking it because I was tired but I presume the caffeine was the reason I wasn't sleeping well - viscous circle.

I now just have morning lunch and early evening ones now. The only exception is is might have one before I train if I'm having one of those I can't be bothered days.

Less is better for me but if I cut it totally out I get some really bad headaches. Only last a day though.

I weaned myself off, mixing decaff with normal coffee, and then increasing the ratio, it has definitely made a positive difference to my mental well being, and occasionally post night shift I need a lift and have an espresso and it actually works. Read somewhere that certain people cannot tolerate more than 500mg of caffeine and iirc that is two cappuccinos!

I was forced to realise how powerful a drug caffeine is some years ago when I gave it up. Same as you OP, headaches, no concentration, hangovers after 2 pints. It was horrible. I have coffee now, but only up until lunchtime and 3 or 4 cups tops.
