Passenger footwell vent

While scrabbling around trying to fit a brighter lights kit (see help thread in tvr general), I noticed that the passenger footwell vent is just, well, a plastic encircled hole.

Is there supposed to be a fiddly vent thingy in there, or is it just supposed to be a hole?

you should have some slats inside that hole,and they open and close,and also rotate as a unit,inside the outer plastic ring.

My sister in law pulled off my passenger footwell vent when adjusting it. Only had the car 1 day!

Glued back nicely though.

whilst upside down in the passenger side looking thru the fuses I noticed that these vents have some ally plate in them and the hole thru the ally isn't that big - not as big as the vent size -- can these be removed to increase the flow ???
