Unreasonable? No, not at all. I've stayed at a plethora of places overseas whereby hot water is 'included' but never works, which is fine because it's the tropics and anyway the room cost me £10.

But a (presumably pricey) place in London? Nah. I'd expect it to be fundamental, and if the hot water wasn't working I'd expect to be accommodated elsewhere.

Since they didn't, I would expect a full refund.

I'd expect hot water as a basic feature of the room and wouldn't want to change floors to have a shower. I'd moan at them until they gave in and gave the full refund.

Not sure to vote. Had a room with hot water coming out both taps once, new room. At the very least I would expect a new room. Unable to fix, put me up in another hotel. No expense to me.

I am not sure what the original post means. Did you move room lock, stock and barrel, or just use another room to shower? If you just used the shower why didn't you move to that room?

Also how long were you staying? Did you cut short your stay?

Somewhere on another forum, someone else just started a thread saying "my hotel just bought another guest into my bathroom to have a shower. Is it unreasonable of me to expect a refund?" hehe

Ah, in that case, I'd like to go back and change my vote, please! hehe

They had a problem, they told you they'd fix it and they (and you) thought they had. When it turned out that the problem still hadn't been fixed, they moved you to a different, fully functioning room for the rest of your stay and refunded you half the cost?

On the assumption that you weren't staying in a serviced apartment for just one night, this seems pretty reasonable to me?

Very odd to leave you in a cold apartment with no hot water if they had a fully functioning one spare. So what if it was bigger, that's not your problem. No heat or hot water is!

As it is, they've had to refund the money that they would have kept had they done so, instead of keeping the cash and having a happy upgraded customer.

Very shaky grasp of business fundamentals.

Did you rip all the fixtures off the walls, steal as much stuff as possible and smear st all over the place to vent your frustration before you left?
