Hi All

I am pondering whether to buy something in this price range - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Automatic-SKX013K2-...

or go up to an Omega or something??

My first watch purchase, 25 years old, work 9-5.

Any guidance appreciated.

Omega would be circa 10x the price?

Surely you must have an idea of your budget?

That Sieko is around £150 I'm thinking. You'll be looking at at least a grand for an Omega.

That's my dilemma, I can go up to £4k budget wise, just looking for input as to whether it would be worth spending that much, or going in on the lower end for my first watch.

Is a £4k watch much better than a Seiko? I don't know, never had either.

In fairness it sounds like you haven't looked into the subject much. £4k is a lot to spend if you don't fully appreciate why you're spending it, or at best relying on the opinion of other forum users.

Are £4k watches worth it? In my opinion (and most likely in the opinion of the other people on this forum who own them) yes they are. Is the Seiko a perfectly good watch? Yes it is. If you're unsure as to where the price difference comes from i'd get the Seiko and spend some time looking into it a bit more. If you find yourself bored within 10 minutes you may be better off with the Seiko, if on the other hand you get drawn into the world of watches then an Omega or something similar may be a good investment.

Ultimately, just because you can spend it, doesn't mean to you should.

Thank you, Answers my question, both are good watches and down to preferance, just wondering if there was a reason it was so much more money.

Going with the Seiko.

If it's a nice dive watch you want then there's loads out there for your budget:

Tudor Black Bay- black dail is nice
Seiko SRP77s- I like the 775 but there's other colours
Srpa21
Legend Diver- the discontinued no date is worth more used than they were new
I also like Timefactors and the only diver currently available is the PRS3.

I've got a Bremont SM special edition but I had about a £1k off due to being related to my work.

Thank you.

I have a very small wrist (yet to measure), so had to discount a couple and that Seiko I sent the link to just sold.

Longines Legend Diver looks great.

The Seiko SKX013 is only 36mm diameter case so perfect for VERY small wrists.

Available here

As a first watch I'd recommend not blowing the budget on something much more expensive.

the longine legend is a lovely looking watch, but I found the lugs were very long and it didn't sit right on my wrist.

Thanks for the init.

I have now been looking at Omega Aqua Terra quarts 39.5mm and GS quartz, both can be had for Around the £1500.00 mark.

Any other suggestions along this line , or shall I go with a sub £200 Seiko to dip my foot in the watch world.
