As I lock down the spec on a Cayman, saw this Viper green one at Solihull....I really like it, and I like the nod to Porsche's heritage.
It's expensive at 2800, question is will it put people off when I come to sell or P/X - it's quite an 'individual' colour...
Plus is anyone getting any discounts off options - nothing doing on the base car it seems.

Do it! If anything you'll get some or all of that £2800 back (as long as the overall spec is good) when you come to sell especially if you go SOR with a specialist rather than an OPC.
Partly agree - if you really love the colour then go for it - it will cause a minimum of 3 months delay to delivery however. But - I doubt if you will get one penny extra for it come selling time.
You'll narrow your selling market as the majority won't want Viper Green.
BUT, there will be very few Viper Green cars, so those that want a Viper Green car will have a very small pool of available cars (at a higher price).
If you like it, go for it. You're buying for you and it's a safe choice as it's a Porsche heritage colour.

Looks great. More of a statement than the Graphite Blue (I think) one next door.
Not sure about re-sale. Maybe you won't get your money back... But how much would you value enjoying being in such a distinctive car during the time you're driving it? Also, how long do you plan to keep it? If a long time, then the value (or otherwise) of the colour is less of an issue.
All IMO of course.
Oh, and those wheels are really nice too.

And to the OP, the 991 GT3 in the showroom is Voodoo Blue (and that's a colour I'd go for over Viper everytime)
Edit to add image (apologies it's such a hopeless iphone pic)

Vodoo blue is nice! Viper looked so good in the showroom, worried about natural light though...
But prob won't see another one.....I may bottle it and go back to GT silver. But I'm defo having those alloys.
Not worried about the delay of special order as it lools like July or Aug is the earliest date for delivery now.

Loud colours on modern cars only work for me on loud cars, and for Porsche that would be GT cars or Spyders etc. On old cars there's lots of chrome to break the color up so a modern car needs the wings, decals, splitters etc of a GT car otherwise it's just a massive slab of solid colour.
On a 718 I'd spend the money on S-PASM, PTV and Sports Chrono instead.
