Griffith DT Performance cars
Discussion
Has anyone looked at this car? It has been for sale for a while. Previous owner seems to have undertaken a body off chassis restoration. Car originally from Cornwall. No PAS but that is not a problem for me.
I am looking for a decent Griff with a restored or replaced chassis. (I am not sure if it is possible to tell if the chassis is ok on an unrestored car-a lot of owners posting on this site seem to have found it difficult to tell and have only found out when they have lifted the body on their car).
Thanks in advance for all helpful replies.

The car looks nice from the pictures, it's a good colour combo as well. It also seems to be a very good price for a car that's had a full chassis resto.
Completely by coincidence the car is about 2 miles from where I live - I've never heard of DT Performance Cars but I'm happy to go and have a look at it for you if you want? Despite my forum name I'm a Griff owner - see my profile pic. My car has also had a full body off resto over the winter last year so I do know what I'm looking at.
Anyway, email me if you want me to go up and we can swap mobile no's etc.
Edited to add that looking closely at the pics it appears to have a good collection of stone chips on the front end, windscreen is starting to delaminate at the bottom corners and interior veneers look to be cracked/peeling off. That said, these are all typical Griff issues and to be expected on an original car of this age and they could all be sorted for c£1k (if you happened to get a crack in the 'screen and had to change it under the insurance).

I popped in and had a quick look at this car around Oct/Nov when I was searching for a Griff.
Whilst I don't have much experience of these cars (3 months in) and certainly not as much as other on here so would strongly recommend you take up any offers of an experienced eye taking a look for you - I didn't get too carried away with the inspection as the paint and interior were a bit tired for me and whilst there was some history it wasn't what I was looking for. The chassis did look clean in the engine bay (didn't bother looking elsewhere as had already made my decision)
It looked genuine (I.e. Not tarted up for sale) so may be worth a look. I was told once owner by Simon Cowell if that floats your boat!
Guy at the garage was nice enough and they had a few classics and more modern stuff in. Didn't hear it running as I arrived on spec as passing and it wouldn't start. Battery flat.
I got the impression there might me some wriggle room on the price too.
Hope this is of some help

But in some respects, all the hard work is done?... if it needs a re-paint and new seats at some point, you can do that (get a bit off the price)... but at least you know the chassis and things are okay.... I'd not go mad on history... look at it for what it is now...
How many time do you see what looks to be a prestine example, only to see the body come off for a chassis job and the outriggers in bits?....
