PS4 Disc Reading Issues

Got a brand new PS4 for Christmas with Unchartered 4 and the Lego Star Wars game. Star Wars game works fine but Unchartered stopped after 10 minutes saying there was an error with the disc and it would be ejected. Couldn't see anything wrong with it at all no marks or scratches. Took it back to Game who exchanged it and at the same time I also bought Battlefield 1.

Played Battlefield and the same thing happened. Phoned Game tech support who told me to rebuild the database and I also tried re initialising the console. Neither worked. Spoke to Game again who agreed to replace the console. Just got the new console this afternoon and after settimg it up exactly the same thing happens! What's worse is now neither games play at all, they both error as soon as they are inserted in to the console.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Is the console horizontal or vertical? If it helps at all it is generally considered better if it's horizontal.

It must be a bad batch. Statutory rights, return the console (they have no choice but to refund you) and purchase elsewhere. Other than that, I'm all out of options.

Thank you for your help. Took the console back to Game today for them to take a look. Thankfully it didn't work for them either and after looking at it they came to the conclusion that it was because of finger prints on the disc. There were only a few on the edge but after cleaning them off it has played ok.

Can't believe that's all it was and since I've got back home it's worked perfectly ever since.

I also got a PS4 for Christmas with Uncharted 4, Fifa and Skyrim. I hadn't played any of the Uncharted games before, but it is excellent - there's an Uncharted "remastered" with the first 3 games on I think I'll be buying sooner rather than later.

I bought a used copy of Unchartered 4 from Game last weekend and the game installs in the background while you play - unfortunately the disc drive made a loud racket and the game crashed time and time again (wouldn't install fully). A Google search found loads of people with this problem and the only solution was to keep putting the PS4 in rest mode every time the game crashed and then restarting to try and bypass the 'bad bit' of the disc - took around an hour in total but I haven't had a problem since.
