What new/nearly new/plenty of warranty car for 10k
Discussion
Well, here I am again. Maybe I buy badly, maybe it's just the risk of running older cars, but my cheap daily has gone pop and my old Saab 9000 is costing an arm and a leg to keep with it's regular maintenance and thirst.
As a lad of 25 who's trying to save a mortgage deposit, one days missed work is expensive, and I quite fancy some fixed cost motoring. I discounted leasing because I could potentially have to do some big miles should my current work contract end, and also I figured I'd sooner own a car outright. Will be doing minimum 15k per annum but could be as high as 25 should my work situation change.
Wants:
New or nearly new, or long warranty (thinking older proceed GT with the remainder of a Kia warranty)
Nice to drive; reasonable handling
Comfortable enough for longer journeys
Petrol preferred but won't rule out diesel
Likely to be reliable as I may keep outside of warranty
Long warranty preffered i.e. Renault's 4 year preffered over fords 2!
Pokey enough, or torquey enough to feel happy enough on the roads and not too stressed, my old swift sport was rest fun but tiring as a daily, looking to keep away from this sort of car
A hint of being fun in some way or other
Cheap-ish to run and fuel
Doesn't have to be the most exciting car in the world as once I buy a house a second fun car is possible
I'm aware some much nicer metal can be had for 10k and a nice used Merc would be my preference, I need to think of my priorities.
So far I've discounted:
Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 turbo/1.4 turbo, founded on driving a 2009 one and it being terrible both inside and to drive
Adam, don't like the styling
Toyota Yaris 1.33VVT-I, bit too slow perhaps with the revvy n/a, but I like the idea of a bulletproof Toyota I could keep for years and years!
Aygo, too slow
Twingo TCe, seems cheap inside, little on the girly side styling wise
Polo 1.0 ecotsi, too slow
I'm not sure if buying cash gives you the bartering power it once did, with dealers only interested in shifting finance deals, would it be safe to assume I might be able to look at £11k cars with a view to getting £750 knocked off? With that in mind, these are the cars I'm looking at currently, some in budget, some with room for discount:
Ford Fiesta. A few different specs in budget, 1.0 ecoboost zetec/s, titanium, 1.5 tdci
Seat ibiza 1.2TSI
Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI
Abarth 595 1.4 t-jet (fun option, maybe too uncomfy and annoying for my miles!)
Renault Clio 0.9tce or 1.5dci, like the looks, interior not so good
Honda Civic 1.4 v-Tec, like the idea of a reliable Honda, interior looks drab, not as much torque/ driveability as turbo options
Any reason I should reconsider some from the no list? Any from my second list I should discount or look in to more? I'd like to narrow it down as that is a lot to test drive! Any other suggestions would be great, I'm not used to shopping at this end of the market so I've probably missed loads!
Thanks all

I'd go down the Kia route, they make some great cars and have a 7 year warranty.
Something like this?
200bhp, 40mpg, comfy, full of gadgets, 6 years warranty

One of these would be perfect actually. Good looking cars too. Can't think of a better all round package that's still under warranty. Bit more poke is always nice too. Top of the list with the fiesta ecoboost! However there aren't many around in budget....Something like this?

Any reason why you're looking at the 1.4 Civic and not the 1.8?
None at all, just what came up on AT with my search criteria! 1.8 well worth a look... I'd happily go a year old to get a better spec too if it's a Honda.. wouldn't be scared of owning one out of warranty at all. Most newish cars would be reliable for you. If you go slightly older it opens up a world of options.

That Mercedes is a terrible choice for what the OP wants. Mercedes E350 CDI Coupe https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262766429857

Fiesta is a good suggestion though. You might get new or delivery miles if you go for zetec S 140.
I'd go for a championship white FN2 type R, newest you can find. Don't worry about a warranty, you won't need one.
You'd probably get a good deal on a Swift Sport seeing as there's a new one coming out. They're a bit low rent inside though.
What about a Ford Ka+ - ie. new 4 door Ford model, similar to Fiesta only 2k cheaper. There's always a Dacia, which we considered before we bought a Ka+. The only thing which steered us away from the Dacia was the thought of not being able to resell if we wanted to - Fords are always a good seller (and rightly so).
I'd look at a good repmobile as they're built to put the miles on in a stress free & reliable way they also have the boot space for the tip run when you get your home also budget in putting your own warranty on the car/or extending the manufacturer warranty & the world is your oyster plus when buying from dealers negotiate a warranty into the price.
