Ive heard Rolex are going to discontinue this model this year as its very slow moving. What do you think the chances are?

I agree. Wouldnt make sense for rolex to ditch all that investment, and they certainly wouldnt be a fanfare about it.

Hows the D-Blue? I just bought a black one from Dom, which should be with me tomorrow.

Slow moving? Great should be able to get a good discount on one....

Seriously though this surprises me. I was in Watches Of Switzerland recently and whilst talking about another watch I over heard two enquiries whilst I was sat there.

When you say slow moving,do you mean just the deep sea, obviously I know about the D blue but is there a waiting list on the deep sea?

Spoken with Rolex Boutique this morning and was told that its total rumour no plans they have heard of to stop selling the Deep sea or D blue models.

Also waiting times for Sub Date Green and GMT 2 Black/Blue are a lot less than people are speculating on here (the initial reason for my enquiry) but asked about DeepSea whilst on phone, so a lot of rumours flying about online it seems.

Maybe it could still happen, but doubt it, if the DeepSea is slow moving then fine, so is supply! dont see how that causes them any major concerns. Its not as if dealers have lots of unsold stock of any steel sports Rolex.

I am in 2 minds whether to get a D-Blue and just put it away as a future prospective "limited" Rolex, worst case its always going to be worth retail at least, my local dealer had one in before Christmas.

I can get one or a BLNR at retail but the biggest issue is I'd wear the BLNR.

I'd just buy it and wear it, enjoy it.

Dont really see the value in having it sat in a box, investment wise maybe it will go up, maybe it wont.

I fully intend to wear the one i buy (whichever model) much like i drive my E-type to enjoy it and dont leave it sat gathering dust.

Besides I'm not sure i could keep one of these in a box without temptation to wear it, after all its for wearing!!

Each to their own i suppose.

The Deep Sea looks ridiculous on my wrist so I couldn't wear it...I saw the prices being asked for them on watch finder (+2,000) over retail and figured if they're worth that much now then you cant really go wrong. Its better than the money being sat in a bank doing nothing (which is what it would be doing if I didn't spend it on a D-Blue).

Had the deepsea a week now. Really enjoying it, and a very different experience than my GMT. Endlessly fiddling with the glidelock lol. I know when I first tried on a deepsea a few years ago I thought it was huge, but its really quite different when you wear it outside of a boutique. love it.

The lugs on the watch are as wide as my wrist and don't sit flat on it. I'd say that's too big.

I never liked the DSSD at first until I had it on a Rubber B strap

Was looking at these last night smile Do you have the one which uses the existing glidelock? How comfy is it? Also, did you find one from a retailer in the UK?

Could never really bond with the deepsea although it's a very good watch. I just didn't find it comfortable to wear. Kinda clumsy. And also didn't really like the proportions of bracelet and head even tho the bracelet's an obvious technical improvement on the traditional Rolex clunker.

So, don't miss it at all. frown
