B7 S4 - oil leak from cam cover - whats the right cost??????
Discussion
So just had the S4 back from main dealer Audi for MOT and service and they have found an oil leak from cam cover, cost to replace gasket is £580.00 plus VAT, few questions about this, is this something that needs to be fixed, the leak isn't that bad, no pools of oil on my drive, not excessively topping it up, had to top it up usually a little bit after 1000 miles or so, maybe half a litre.....so is it something that could suddenly cause major engine problems, ???
cost wise, that's seems pretty expensive to replace a gasket, is that right, or does anyone know a decent Essex based Audi Indie who could do it cheaper?
Secondly, rear brake hoses are showing signs of cracking, and for Audi to replace was £380.00 plus VAT, anything to do with brakes is obviously of concern, so this needs doing but is that price right, or to expensive?
any advice appreciated

Those are both quotes made up mostly of labour (that any competent, independent garage could do). Expect labour to be reduced by half going elsewhere, they're not particularly specialised jobs.
As for the oil leak "they all do that, sir" and most people do indeed ignore it unless the leak becomes nasty/smelly.
