How on earth do you take good photo of things like this in motion - they move too fast to pan with?

NOTE:

If you see a lot of camera shake it can be a combination of blue tits in cold weather.........

Thats it! The birds were getting soooo close it was very hard to take photos (sounds odd I know) - they were flying between our heads, wings clipping our ears etc! Amazing to watch but at least once I was glad i had the camera 'protecting' my face!

Amazing photos - what setup were they taken with?

As for you other naughty chaps - I wish I was snapping birds like that as well! Well... maybe here sister

Lovely picture - out of interest where did you take it?

Mrs CVP and I saw a weather forecast saying both Sat and Sun were going to be sunny so didn't go out on Saturday We were out on Sunday morning and it was looking to be a bit of a wash out until we saw this little chap.

So well camouflaged that it was only the movement of his beak gave him away. First time I've ever been so close to a snipe. So a decent result in the end.

So those are the little buggers who win every eBay auction at the last moment?
