Where best to sell Cyrus and Dynaudio kit?
Discussion
Hi all,
With the arrival of our little one just over a year ago I haven't once turned on my sound system and am coming to the realisation that it will be many many moons before it will be practical to use it once again. I think the future for us sits in Sonos or similar as it's much simpler, wireless and doesn't need to be within the zone of terror that Master B plagues!
It's all Cyrus 7 and i have a fair few boxes, all perfect. The Dynaudio floor standing speakers are 6 or so years old now and equally perfect. I had a beautiful set of Concert Viennas before which were incredible but too large for the space so I swapped with my father for the Dynaudios.
I'm well used to eBay having bought and sold much of my Subaru racer on there and I see Cyrus kit being sold there but just wanted to know if there were any other sites that come better recommended? Perfectly willing to pay fees etc if the right audience is seeing the stuff.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
James

I would be tempted to hang on to it. Put the speakers in the loft covered up and buy some cheaper ones that will do the job and you will not worry about. Then get a Sonos connect to allow you to have the Sonos type control. There are other makes available that will do this too and sometimes are cheaper.
Firstly - do not put any equipment in your loft, even well wrapped. The damp will get to it (unless you have a remarkably dry loft). I have seen many turntables on Ebay with terribly corroded alloy parts, because of loft / garage / shed storage.
Both of my lads grew up around my HiFi equipment without any mishaps.
Here's a pic of my eldest when he was about 4 sat atop one of my speakers.
They both learned a healthy respect for my kit as they got older - never had a single finger poke at speakers either.
Has parenting changed that much in 25 years?

Try the Cyrus Unofficial forum www.cyrusunofficial.co.uk
Out of interest, what speakers? I used to have Cyrus/Dynaudio gear

Thanks guys. It's not something I want to to do desperately but I'm sure the prospect of not being used for years isn't great for the kit either.
It's all in my cinema/av room so is safe for now but that room may well be repurposed as a playroom in time so it would then need stored and that's when things may degrade.
I checked and I have;
Cyrus Integrated 8 vs2
Cyrus AV Master 8.0
Cyrus Stream XP
Cyrus X Power
Cyrus PSX-R
Dynaudio Audience 62
5 x Arcam Muso speakers for my cinema system
1 x REL Accoustics Quake Subwoofer
I'll be buried with my Pioneer 50" plasma though!!!

Just fence it off, and tell them! NO!
It is what we did with my kit and never had a problem (other than a single marble in the bass port of the floor standers, which wasnt them)
Personally, Better to manage behavour than hide it away, then it just becomes a temptation again when it is back out.

Is it possible to mass load the speakers ? If you have reasonable DIY skills you could make some very heavy plinths out of some paving slabs. add some black paint, lacquer and some machine screws from Halfords. Machine screws need to be same thread as speaker spikes ( Usually M6 or M8 ) and long enough to go through the slab and secure the plinth to the speaker base. Result is a speaker with a much bigger footprint and much more mass near floor level.
A word of warning, most paving slabs have very sharp edges, do you have , or know anyone, who has the equipment to radius the edges and 'soften the corners ?
Something along these lines, https://www.iqspeakers.co.uk/plinths-etc?lightbox=...
