Got a ticket the other day. Lots of nice pics of my Mustang on the council website with my number plate but meter man seemed unable to work out what model of car it is so put Ford Capri on the paperwork.

Friends appear to think this is enough to get off despite pictures showing my plate.

Surely not.

Thought so, just so many friends believe the wrong model makes it void.

Cheers.

Well I wrote to them just to cheekily point out that I had not seen a Capri outside of a museum or car meet for years.

Got an email back saying that they did not have sufficient evidence to carry on the prosecution.

So I got off biggrin

But how much does it hurt that someone thought it was a Capri?

Very odd, as i would have thought they would have used the number plate as the ID.

With the number of Mustangs round here, I'd be more immpressed if it had been a Capri!

If they're accusing you of illegally parking a Ford Capri and you can prove that you didn't illegally park a Ford Capri then they have no basis of prosecution.

There were about 7 pics of my car in the road parked in question with the plate clearly visible. I didn't expect to get off.

So it went from a simple parking ticket, to threat of prosecution, in two weeks?

I got a parking ticket in my wife's MINI Cooper S. The ticket listed the make as "BMW" and the model as "MINI".

I pointed out that I had not parked a "BMW", and that both the V5 and the tax disc (at the time) listed the make as "MINI".

The ticket was cancelled.

THe stupid thing is that they searching the DVLA database to get registered keeper details and failing to use the same database...at the same time...to correctly identify the make/model. Pathetic.

When issuing the tickets the enforcement officers don't have access to the database so we have to rely on the markings on the vehicles, so as long as the make and VRM are correct the rest (colour/model) are not vital to the PCN. (helpful really when so many BMW drivers de-badge the cars so we don't know the model)

I had one where the owner had taken the Ford logo off and put a batman logo on, I was so tempted to put Batmobile on the PCN, but resisted smile
