My wife called me earlier, rather shaken because she went to collect the children from school & parked legally & respectfully (not blocking any driveways) but she was sworn at by a resident & threatened with physical violence & criminal damage to her car if she parked outside this guys house.

"You go and collect your f***ing kids and see what happens to your car" were some of his words.

My wife said nothing and drove off rather frightened at what he was about to do as she would shortly be with our 4 & 5 year old children.

It's unfortunate that there isn't more available parking in the area around the school but this man does not own the road outside his house as he appeared to suggest to my wife.

I popped a message on the residents Facebook group to warn other parents.
My advice to parents was to park on the opposite side of the road to the houses (which to the best of my knowledge has no parking restrictions), thereby blocking the road during school pick up times. A shame that one moron can spoil things for others.

This guy lives next to a school where parking is difficult at peak times, what did he expect?

What would you folks suggest we do?

Has he committed an offence or is it treated as someone just letting off a bit of steam?

He was convincing enough to scare the crap out of my wife!

Is it acceptable?

No it's not acceptable.

A call to the local PCSO would be appropriate I think.

His reaction sounds like the culmination of months worth of feelings towards the parking and your wife was just unlucky to receive it. Chances are he probably won't follow through with his threats and is all talk.

Me? I'd be tempted to go back and give him a hard time about it. As for what has happened? Report it to 101 and the school but be careful about posting up his details online, that could backfire if he found out.

I thought someone would ask and eventually make a "why can't the little darlings walk" comment smile

It's 2 miles from home and their gym club after school is a further 30/40 min drive.

Yes, blocking the road at pick up times will show him you are not to be messed with.

Turning this around, how would you feel if you had all and sundry parking outside your house at two very busy times if the day?

For all you know, it may have been the last straw after someone parked across his drive.

Having said that, no excuse and very bad form from him but as suggested, a call to 101 might be worth a go but don't hold your breath.

I have that. It's not a problem. I do prefer to guide my wife out if she has to leave at either start or finish time.

Had similar. I went with the GF the second time. He steamed out and then paused when he copped she wasn't alone. Introduced myself and subtly reminded him I knew where he lived. I am neither a company director nor powerfully built but I do scary Belfast accent quite well. To be fair the area around the school is a nightmare at chucking out time so I can understand the frustrations.

So he does own the road outside his house?

He doesn't have a drive. Maybe he should have moved somewhere with a drive and dropped kerb or not in a road next to a school.

The school was there before he was born.

One would have to be quite unintelligent to not expect it to be busy for 15 mins twice a day at school drop off and pick up times when you live opposite a school.

I know who my wife is talking about.

I've seen him kicking his front door before and shouting "open the f***ing door you f***ing bh" to his wife.

I parked outside his house once and he pulled up behind almost touching my bumper.

If he can't cope with the frustrations of living near a school he shouldn't have bought a house there- end of.

He didn't have to tell my wife to "effing move; you're outside my effing house".

My wife did comment apparently, she just said that it didn't appear to be a drive and there's no dropped kerb so she hadn't realised she shouldn't park there.

She was very polite until the point at which she became frightened by his abuse and then she fled.

As one of my friends said....

He buys a house by a school then complains about School traffic - genius. And threatening people collecting their children takes a 'special' kind of knuckle dragger

A nasty business, you need to do one of two things;

1, Confront him and read him his fortune if he does it again.

2, Go to the police and tell them he threatened your wife.

If 1 isn't for you, which is fair enough, then do 2.

But do not ignore it and let it go.
