Hoping someone can provide some advice. My dad would like to buy a sound base to connect to his Virgin TiVo, and I want to recommend the right one. He has an absolute maximum budget of £200, but would prefer to spend less.

I've recommended this one: http://www.richersounds.com/product/soundbars-soun...

Seems to be a good bit of kit, but my nervousness is that it only has an optical input. Seem the TiVo will output to optical, but wanted to make sure it had no issues in doing so. Anyone know? Naturally, another downside is that if he ever switches back to Sky, he may be stuck without an HDMI input?

Whilst I think there may be some other options available to him, two things particularly look good on this one, which is that it has a display (vs the Cambridge TV5, for example), and it also has radio built in, which is a nice feature (though he may not use it).

What do people think?

I have a an Onkyo sound base (about 3-4 years old) and its connected by optical from the TV and not the TIVO. That way it will play the dvd output also.

I'm not entirely sure his TV even has an optical output! It's only a cheap TV.
