What are these things called on carbon wheels?

On my new Giant Propel Pro 0 it has a little plastic ring that sits over the valve stem to create a flat surface to tighten the valve securing nut onto. Any idea what it's called?

I've tried searching for valve stem seat and carbon wheel seat without any luck..

Sorry, no experience of a plastic ring on your carbon wheels, but I've never run a valve securing nut on any bike, ever...I don't see what it purpose is, so may as well just discard it..?

Well, I know the purpose! It's there to stop the valve rattling against the rim while riding.

Something about this little seat just adds a bit of class to the rim, it looks neat.

Yeah that's the ticket!

Any idea where I can get a replacement? Can't see them on the Giant site or anywhere. For the SLR 0 aero wheelset.

just ditch the cap, the nut and the silly plastic shim

When you want to inflate, ensure that you put the palm of your hand against the tyre to stop the valve being pushed back into the wheel, job jobbed. The rest of the paraphenalia is like the plastic disc between the cassette and the wheel - pointless nonsense!

I take it the wheelset can run as tubeless? The valves you describe are for tubeless wheelsets to ensure an airtight seal with the rim, if your running your wheels with innertubes then you don't need them - but if you want a set any tubeless valve set should contain what you're looking for.

yeah they are both tube and tubeless, maybe that explains it.

I'll ask the guys in the shop if they have one lying about. Although, been pretty tempted to go tubeless anyway.
