New dentures due- any help or advice please?
Discussion
Hello people,
I'm reposting this under a new title, following the advice of 'condor' - it seems my original title was a bit too obscure.
Yes, I'm talking about dentures. I've been steadily losing teeth to bone erosion for years. The dentist says it's down to to a combination of genetics and my being a lifelong smoker.
A couple of weeks ago, I got the kind of toothache that goes with a good left hook. Then, my front right lower incisor started flailing about. The pain/neuralgia continued so, after I'd been Conrad Poohs and his dancing teeth for a week, the offending item had to go...Deliverance time. Its neighbours are also pretty loose. My brother ( four years older) still has the set.
At 61, I have ten teeth in the upper deck (no molars left and wisdoms were tugged dec ades ago). Down in steerage
, I've two molars left, three premolars and all the frontals less one. My ex calls her lower frontals her 'front bottom teeth'
I've to go the the dentist mid Jan. He's going to do an impression (Tommy Cooper?), so we go from there.
Soo there it is. Any hints, tips, tales or advice? Ta

Sounds like you're best course of action would be implants with fixed dentures top/bottom. That however is likely to cost £20k and dependent on how may implants are advised and whether your bone erosion issue will undermine the fixing of implants. Smoking will also affect longevity of the work I believe.

Thanks, Z,Far too rich for my taste - and income level!
The tooth tugger reckons the bone erosion's gone too far for succesful implantation so it looks like top and bottom plates are the (Hobson's) choice.
I could always buy a new skull on eBay but getting it fitted would be a challenge
