Thinking of trying my hand at producing an AV presentation after seeing a couple recently. I've a couple of ideas running through my head, but would appreciate some advice as to whether its Music/soundtrack to fit pictures or pictures to suit soundtrack. My intention is to take a series of shots specificaly for the project rather than cobble together existing stuff.

When I produced corporate video the order was always (1) write script (2) film (3) record VO (4) edit - lay down VO first then fit pictures on top (5) add music to taste.

There's nothing worse than wandering around a product a few times then sticking 'Side 1 Track 1' music on top.

Music almost always fits to picture if composed for the project.

Having said that I've done a few where I've used my music and edited to the music.

I've worked with this guy a few times... to give you an idea: http://chrismugford.com

^^ As you're a composer that's to be expected for the work you've been involved with. Most budgets dictate library music so it's more of a trowel-over than tailor-made.
