DVLA sends me a paper reminder when my vehicle tax is due (so, why can't they text or email me instead?) but, although they also know when my MOT is due, they don't remind me about this. Why not? Would be most useful.

Apologies if done before, I did search, saw nothing.

Perhaps because it will cost them more money?
Any half decent garage will take your details and send a text reminder.
Plus you can get the MOT done a month in advance, what time would you like to be reminded?
Sticker under the sun visor is the best way IMO, or next to the bonnet catch - thats if you check the oil regularly!

They've failed to remind me of my wedding anniversary numerous times.

It's caused no shortage of problems in my household.

Why can't people actually accept responsibility for knowing when there car(s) needs a service, MOT or insurance etc. Why do people just expect everybody else to take on their responsibilities?

I have a yearly wall planner.

It has the MOT, insurance and tax dates for both my cars and both my bikes.

Makes life much easier!

They used to. According to this piece it was discontinued thanks to 'lack of demand', maybe because there are a thousand ways you can do it yourself. But there's possibly something new coming along soon.

Great app, I have 4 cars to tax , insure and MOT. Then there is my wifes car and my sons too. Got them all on the app and get reminders when any are due tax or mot.

Because you are trusted to be an adult and manage your own life without the state reminding you (much) smile

Good tip - I might have to have a look at that. With 4 cars I've had a couple of near-misses for MOTs and servicing.

No need for an extra app, doesn't every smart phone have a diary app of some description that could be used?

Mine is called 'Vehicle Smart'

It allows you to search MOT history on any car and look for mileage discrepancies, if you tap the reg you are searching it adds that vehicle to your 'Garage' and will remind you when MOT and tax are due.

Just downloaded it - Well worth paying for the £1.99 premium option if you've more than one car. Or are incredibly forgetful.
