Just had a very low and fast jet over home. Made an unusual "hoovering" style noise was very low and bl..dy quick! Only caught the back end of it which appeared "Hunteresque" in looks. Single jet pipe and mid mounted tailplane.
Can't believe it was a Hunter because of its height and speed, definitely not a Hawk the wingspan was too large. Any ideas anybody?

Maybe a Jet Provost/Strikemaster?

Doubt this would be quicker than a Hunter though.

The speed's the biggest thing that's throwing me, it was properly quick! Looked like it may have had a clamshell style airbrake at the rear, Buccaneer style. Have we any foreign military over here at the moment?

Wouldn't discount it being a Hunter, HHA at Scampton are still flying theirs and they've been seen in Northants a fair bit during 2016.

Thanks Damien. Coming round to Hunter, it was low and fast though!
