i lent a guy a set of headphones with a microphone built in to them, they belong to the company i am doing it work for (i use them in the server room) they only cost about £15 and he works directly for the company, but i've been using them at least twice a week for over a year with nothing happening to them.

he's brought them back after half an hour, one of the foam ear covers is half off, and the microphone arm is bent and now broken at the base so you can see the wires.

half an hour and all that damage, when they've survived me using them for ages. all i could say to myself was "WTF?"

how and why do people not care so much about the stuff they use? is it just because it's company owned?

it worries me especially as he is senior staff.

Sounds like my dhead brother, who has zero respect for other peoples property.

Recently he swung the my car door open into a wall despite being warned to be careful getting out, didnt even say sorry, told me it was my fault for having, and I quote - "stupid doors". Prick.

Luckily it was the banger I use for work, had it been my other car or the wifes car I would have punched him square in the nose.

People have a funny attitude towards "Company Property" 'though, don't they.

But perhaps he would have done that if it was his own?

On my last gig the IT guys would always say: "of course I can give you so-and-so, but I just need you to log it so there's a ticket".... I realise that's a smart move to ensure everything is recorded before getting lost or trashed.

We have post boxes by our front door at work, there is one for each office.

People, from the offices smoke outside the door.

These people, who I will refer to as scum, sub-human scum then post their waste drink cans, food wrappers and empty fag packets in the post boxes.

WTF.

Some people *cough* the other half *cough* just have no concept of mechanical sympathy either with cars or small electricals or even doorhandles. Its a peculiar thing to them

After a few times something went missing/came back not working, I've started this at work

One bloke several times claimed that a drill or battery didn't work when he arrived on site or that something like a hammer had broken. Each time, someone on site had conveniently happily disposed of it.

The guy he reported to didn't care. Now he has to sign everything out and it's demonstrated working to him with a witness.

Along the same line, it always used to amaze me the number of people who lose keys of laptop keyboards. In 14 years in IT using laptops everyday I never once broke a key of the keyboard, but I seemed to always have a call in my queue to arrange a replacement keyboard, and the user always seemed to be amazed that it wasn't covered under the warranty, a surprising number were women as well.

Many years ago a director asked if he could try out a fountain pen that I owned and had for sale, this was a Parker 51, made about 1960 and worth about £70.

This was around 11.30.

I went down to the break room at lunch time and was using the pen as a dart on the dart board.

He gave it back to me with the comment - I knew that you would be up for a laugh.

I wasnt.

i replaced a keyboard for a secretary once, as i moved it off the desk and towards the floor, about a half a litre of water came out. she asked if her spilling her water on it would have made it stop working? smile

i did think perhaps he swapped them, but there is a bit of tape on the lead that is still there, so unless he carefully peeled it off and swapped that as well i think he just stood on them smile

A girl I was chatting to recently said she's had 3 new phone screens in 4 months. You'd think after the first one she'd buy a case and/or be a lot more careful.
I've had smartphones for 8 years now and despite using them in some pretty rugged situations abd dropping them in some quite peculiar ways I've never broken on

My company was pretty tight with money, but they never employed any children hehe
