Red Bull doesn't give you wings?

I've partially posted due to discussions here on differences between offences including Driving Without Due Care and Attention and Dangerous Driving.

He was a Traffic Officer who no doubt has a clear understanding of what constitutes Dangerous Driving and the difference to Careless Driving. He admitted the charge of Dangerous Driving.

I do not know if Police Driving in non emergency situations at 85mph+, with not ideal road conditions, is dangerous in itself. The consequences though were serious enough and could have been a lot worse.

Doesn't sound like dangerous driving to me, although I get the impression that his prisoner wasn't helpful. smile Wouldn't surprise me if the driver lied about the circumstances of the accident, which became obvious when investigated.

Sounds pretty dangerous to me - 90 odd mph on the motorway swigging from a can of drink and then piling into the back of a car in front

85 mph isn't dangerous.

"Swigging" an energy drink was denied.

The consequence isn't connected to the act. Even if someone had died then the standard of driving would remain the same.

Isn't whether 85mph is dangerous or not dependent on the conditions?

I'm with you. My first question is why was he travelling in excess of the speed limit whilst merely transporting a detainee? Something obviously happened in the car to cause the loss of concentration.
