Piston Heads says I'm "Billy no mates"
Discussion
Yes that's true, I have no other "mates". Which is particularly true when it comes to real life. I have no friends who are into cars. I have one friend who is into cars, he's cool but I've only became friends with him recently, he's into modifying cars which is great to see what he's doing with his polo 6R.
The purpose of this thread is essentially to get myself some "car mates". I'm 17, not yes passed my test and I'm into Supercars. I watch a lot of car youtubers including see through glass for example, but I have nobody to discuss cars with. I'm from down south, Sussex area If it matters

Out of interest have you ever driven that TT on your profile? You say it's your dads but I've also seen you say it's yours
No I have not ever driven it, I haven't been 17 for long but when I pass my test I'm sure I'll be able to wiggle into the drivers seat for a quick hoon. Yeah I say that it's mine as it's easier to explain and it makes me look less immature. But then it is mine and my dads project so I do see it as mine as well as his.

Also don't worry, a lot of people here don't have the cars their profile claims they have
Welcome.....one bit of advice, get to know cars you will be able to afford in the next 10-15 years, hydrocarbon power will /could be banned by the time you might be able to afford one anyway
Well thanks for the advice, but I find it highly unlikely for hydrocarbon power to be banned so soon. I find it would be the automatic gearbox that would take over the driving experience in 10/15 years time, heck, it's already starting to happen, most spots/supercars these days are paddle shifts only.

There is no corollary between high post count and lack of friend in the "real world" - at least not in my case.
My high post rate is more due to the fact that I work from home on my own and don't have any work colleagues - so for the past 15 years PH has been my "work chat" space.
Outside of work I have many friends and do lots of things. Indeed, lack of time to do all the things I'm interested in is one of my problems - but it's nice to be in that situation.
As for the OP, welcome to PH. One the whole it's a good place here,. You'll certainly get lots of useful help and advice on cars - especially if you post on the dedicated "car" related forums. It's also great for other interest areas, such as science, aircraft, business, music, films, TV etc (they're the places I hang out mostly).
The News and Lounge forums can get very boisterous at times and you shouldn't venture in there unless you have a thick skin and aren't too sensitive. On the other hand - if you like a good old barney on things that don't really matter - wade in.

I agree with Eric explore the site avoid the idiots and it's a great place to be.
I presume if your into supercars you've found the supercars spotted thread? Always worth a look to see what cars have been spotted mainly in London.
I will surely take a look, thanks! I see most of what is about at the moment on Instagram and such, but would definitely be nice to see other people opinions. I think I am one of the idiots you speak of after posting a thread yesterday claiming I'd spotted a car which doesn't exist when it turned out to be a Juke not a Quashqai I presume if your into supercars you've found the supercars spotted thread? Go classic, best thing I ever did.
Had a 948cc Healey Sprite for my first car and it was bloody awesome. Very similar mechanics to the mini, so parts are available and cheap. It's a soft top, which the girls love and it is crazy basic which makes the whole thing more fun.
Plus because they're so simple you can do a lot of the mechanics yourself, which opens the portal to late night spannering in the garage.
This was mine:
