Im no flipper, many are, I had to pay well over for the 991 GT3 RS off a flipper, so this time i call my local OPC up and ask can you please, please, please take my bloody money (Deposit) so it can sit in your bank earning interest.....Blah,blah,blah later he say cant sir.

Do they take deposits anymore? I heard they cannot until release/allocation etc. Im no flipper, many are, I had to pay well over for the 991 GT3 RS off a flipper, so this time i call my local OPC up and ask can you please, please, please take my bloody money (Deposit) so it can sit in your bank earning interest.....Blah,blah,blah later he say cant sir.

Yeah even people with a history with Porsche will struggle!

yeap to need to formally register your interest with the dealer and then if your lucky you might get one. I think there is another thread lurking around with the proposed initial requirement. How true that is though is a different matter.
Thanks for your reply, just what i was looking for.cormeist said:

They wont take your deposit because the car doesn't exist without anything official! Until its officially announced (Feb), they will then start to take deposits from what they believe to be serious enquiries and with half a chance of getting allocated a car (You can only register interest in the car at this point).Im no flipper, many are, I had to pay well over for the 991 GT3 RS off a flipper, so this time i call my local OPC up and ask can you please, please, please take my bloody money (Deposit) so it can sit in your bank earning interest.....Blah,blah,blah later he say cant sir.

I'm aware some dealerships in the past have taken deposits in advance before, but this is the dealer and not Porsche themselves. I believe this has been clamped down on now after the recent fiasco, although Im sure the odd one will pop up on here as the exception by leaving a deposit months ago (thinking it will improve their chances).
In all honesty if you are only just registering interest in the car, then you probably will have a very slim chance of getting a car due to the sheer number of people registering interest 2+ years ago. They could of course build thousands of cars and everyone will get one, but I some how doubt that.

Don't bother, mate. I've had 4 Porsches and tried to get the last-gen RS (failed). Tried to get a GT4 (failed). Tried to get a 911R (obviously failed). Just can't be bothered any more. Bought something else instead. Porsche produce sublime cars, but fortunately so too do a few other manufacturers. Unfortunately quite few feel it is their given right to be allocated one, with or without a prior history with the dealer. Many of these don't feel they should have to contact their dealership, have a relationship with them, justify a purchase, or put the effort in, which is entirely up to them, but on fairly limited run cars such as these, flagship models, this is what you have to do. Never had an issue being allocated what I want with a bit of hard work, asking around, justify a purchase from a local OPC etc etc, it's just the way it is. Starting asking around, but don't listen to those saying they have a deposit in, because they won't (or shouldn't); their is no justifiable reason for deposits on these cars, or LOI's.

You need to build a relationship with your sales person/OPC. My experience has been the same as yours. There was someone on here who didn't get a GT4 allocation (going back early 2015 after announcements/allocations). Spent at least a year whining about it. Every post about a GT4...whine whine whine. Someone else in a similar position phoned around every OPC and hustled. Found a car and actually got his before mine turned up! That said, if the OP can't be bothered to use the search feature on the forum or indicate that he has tried to help himself and done a bit of legwork...
