Anyone else playing this? It's early access at the moment and plays a bit like underwater minecraft.

I'm playing on the Oculus and, whilst it's not perfect graphically in VR yet, it's pretty epic at times. I came face to face with a Reaper Leviathan for the first time earlier and jumped so much I nearly hit the ceiling ..

I haven't played for some time now, but bought it around a year ago and it was a fun game, and great to look at. I've been watching a YouTuber play it lately so I can see the new additions to the game which certainly give the player a bit more to do, as previously all there was was to build a base for no reason and explore. It seems there's quite a bit of story in there now.

Been playing tis on the XBO - but since purchase the subsequent updates have only made the game worse. Its literally unplayable on the XBO now as the draw distance is non existent - you can be whizzing along in your sub through supposedly clear waters only to crash into the sea bed, a few seconds later the map finally appears.

Its a shame as I enjoyed playing it, even found myself holding my breath when trying to surface after a deep dive session and running out of air, but on the XBO its a bit of a mess. Would love to try it in VR though!

Just thought I'd wake this one back up, purchased on the Xbox one a couple of weeks back as an unfinished beta and generally really enjoying it, agree with the post above re. Render distance it is frustrating especially when you whizz along in your seamoth and when the landscape does render you have a wreck around you, but at the same time it's marketed as an unfinished game for about £15, I've had more frustrating issues from £50 games.

Overall really enjoying it, I reckon I'm about 80% through my first play at the moment, once I've finished it I'll just be playing in the unlocked mode and building sea bases in interesting places.

If nothing else it's giving me a rest from world of tanks for a few weeks.

Who else is playing?

I finished it in creative mode.
Going back through in the 2nd mode now.
Good in vr, with an xbo pad.

It's a time vampire that for sure.

Grrr. Downloaded the update last night.

Glitchier than before. Lost a seamoth due to a leviathan grabbing it and taking it beyond the scenery and implanting it in to a wall, then nearly lost a prawn as it fell through the floor of the world, but eventually came near the lava zone and with thrusters and grab arm managed to get back in to the world. Made it all the way out and most of the way back to base and fell through the floor again. This time just carried on going.

Even warping back to the base had it thinking I was still in the prawn even though I had left the prawn before using the command. Wouldn't allow me to save and just locked up. Result quitting out of the game losing some progress. Frustrating.

One of the best games I've ever played - I can't wait for the polar version. I'd also love to see this game but in our world - sharks, whales etc, would be amazing if they can figure a story out - flooded world perhaps.

Could be just me but I found it a bit dull beyond a certain point. Once you've got the big sub and the prawn(?) suit base building becomes a bit grindy as you're just constantly trying to collect materials.

Great up to a point and it looks really nice without being crazy demanding system wise but it felt a bit shallow somehow (pun intended).

You're two days too late for Subnautica. That ended on the 27th.

It's supermeatboy that's free now

I've been really enjoying it, but it's buggy as hell, crashes frequently and the most recent one reverted my save to about 3 hours into the game.

CBA redoing all the tedious swimming so it's consigned to the bin now

I bought it in the recent Steam sale.

It seems pretty stable so far (2+ hours playing time). Still finding my sea legs with it, but it seems fun.

Stick with it, it can be a bit slow until you build up materials and start building cool stuff. I found it amazing. I bought the sub zero sequel but I've not installed it yet, waiting for release from EA - hopefully Jan!

Is that finally coming out of early access? It's taken bloody ages! I played Subnautica on console and I loved the tension and fear of delving into the unknown, particularly exploring caves and such.

I'll play the Sub Zero expansion as soon as it gets released on PC.

I'm having too much fun exploring in free roaming mode to go through the grind of resource acquisition etc. smile

Although you don't get the story, you *are* able to progress the mission, search for escape pods, gather PDA data, etc.

I might actually play it now - once the the latest version is patched you will lose the current story. One of the key writers left and they weren't happy with the direction of the story so have decided to start again. A new writer has been bought onboard. This mean what should have been a Jan release will likely be several more months - but they do say a patch due shortly will pretty much complete the game, apart from the story (so all locations/animals etc).

I started playing a couple of months ago and didn't enjoy my first couple of hours. It just didn't grab me. That said, I've heard nothing but good things from those who got deeply (pun intended) into it, so I probably need to get back into it.

Subnautica is one of the most engrossing games I've ever played. Genuinely sad it's finished.

Whilst you think it's a bit "meh" to start with, once you start finding blueprints things REALLY take off. You'll be amazed at what lies ahead. Don't google or you'll get spoilers. The endgame is simply epic. You will be astounded how "big" it is. The sense of exporation and isolation is immense (something they've lost on the sequel apparently).

One tip - play in the mode that doesn't require eating and drinking. It ruins the game for most. Just too distracting / annoying / repetative - you'll have enough on your plate anyhow!. It can be disabled in the game console of you need to.
