Hi can anyone advise, my car went in for general service yesterday, I got a phone call to say that one of the mechanics had not put handbrake on another car and it rolled into my car and 2 others !!!!When I got to the garage they told me they had already taken the car to the body shop so I couldn't see it. The garage have said they would give me a car while mine is in the Bodyshop and will email me pictures, but I am concerned how badly damaged the car is ? Surely I should be able to see my car before they start work on it ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Of course you can. Tell them not to do anything until you have seen the car.

Is this a main dealer or an indy?

I would certainly push to see it. Just to check their story out, and to know the damage wasn't far worse and caused by someone taking the car out for a drive.

Absolutley this. It's YOUR car, you can't be prevented from seeing it.

I'd be driving there right now and wouldn't leave until I'd seen it.

It may well only need a minor repair but I would insist on viewing. Emailing pictures is not an acceptable alternative!

Don't take any crap from the dealer - ask to speak with the dealer principal if you're not doing so already & get clear agreement that you can inspect the car before any work is done & ask how they'll do the repair ie. replacement part etc or just paintwork? Send the dealer an email confirming what you've said/agreed. Hopefully it might be something like a new bumper which is a simple bolt on job but I'd be seeking that you're not charged for the work it was in for & that you have a decent courtesy car insured at their cost until it's fixed.

This is ridiculous.

Tell them to do NOTHING to the car until you have inspected the damage they have caused.

Just called service centre to instruct them not to do anything to the car until we can see it, as it's Saturday Bodyshop not working today ! And the car is at a different garage. Service person asked me was I aware the door is off the car !!!!!!! I am fuming. Just have email off service confirming they won't do any work to the car until we have seen it.

Thanks for the advice

At least as it's a main dealer you can take it further with the dealer principle or failing that Mercedes if you don't get satisfactory answers.

Good luck getting it sorted.
