Evening

Went for a spin in the V8V today and realised at some point I've lost the wing mirror glass. Presume it happened the last time I drove it as it was dark and I wouldn't have noticed.

There's no damage to the wing mirror. There is black plastic where I presume the glass sticks on to - only it's not there.

Can you buy the glass on its own? Has anyone else had this happen?

You should be able to.

Unless you are feeling generous, it might be helpful to know that it is likely to be a Volvo door mirror.

Yes, the AM door mirror caps are from a Volvo
The genuine AM mirror glass is circa £55, but with a little research you could probably use the Volvo mirror glass.

The Volvo models that use the same mirror caps as the earlier smaller Aston door mirrors (2006-2010) are S60/S80/V70II 2004-2006
I seem to recall a topic on here a few years ago that someone bought the Volvo mirror glass for approx £25.

I have attached a link to a Volvo specialist I have used before for door mirror caps for my Aston

You can try Halfords too - they do replacement glass to fit most types.
I did one of my wife's Z4 mirrors - perfect and pretty inexpensive as far as I remember.

The mirror glass fell off my driver side mirror yesterday. Initially ordered an S60 mirror lens from Halfords thinking it would fit, but it transpires the glass in a 2005-2010 V8V is specifically from the Mk2 Revamped V70. Visited my local Fast Parts with the code, and a couple of hours later it was delivered, all for £12.70!

The codes are as follows for future reference:

Drivers Side (RHS) - SRG1176
Passenger Side (LHS) - SRG1177

Sticks on with double sided adhesive provided, just ensure you get the fit right first time, I buggered it up, smashed the glass trying to remove it and had to order another one. 🤦‍♂️ Too embarrassed to go back to the store, so ordered one on Amazon for £8.58. Still £21.28 has got to be cheaper than Aston Martin...

Make a card template of the remaining glass, flip it over and mark that side, and take it to any general auto store.

I take it these are only heated when stuck to an existing damaged heated mirror ?

Worthy of being added to the FAQ?
